Our Lessons.

The Basics.

Music lessons are most commonly held in 30 minute increments on violin, piano or guitar. Students are accepted as young as three years old with shorter lesson times. As students advance a longer lesson may be found necessary. Various methods are used in lessons depending on the instrument the student studies. Most violin students study the Suzuki method and most piano students study the Faber method however, all three instruments utilize additional materials in the curriculum depending on the interests of the student and instructor.

Practice. Makes. Perfect.

Learning an instrument takes time and patience! When a student signs up for lessons a commitment is made to the process of learning. Progress on an instrument comes with time spent on the instrument, continuously working through the challenges presented. During lessons new materials and techniques are introduced while the application and growth of these happen at home. It is often found that students love to play but learning to work hard is another matter! One of the best ways to overcome this is by maintaining a balanced schedule set for when practice is held. Length of practice time is determined by the teacher depending on the age/level of the student. Specific practice tips are given to parents and students at times. Younger students practice with parents, gradually learning how to manage their own practice time.

Recitals.

Students are required to participate in at least one of the two semi annual recitals. Other events may also be held and are optional, the teacher will notify you of any scheduled events well suited for the student. The spring recital includes an awards ceremony presenting three awards in composition, courage, and fastest growing. Concert dress: Black pants or knee length black shorts/skirt, white collared shirt for boys or white blouse/collared shirt for girls.
